Privacy Policy
Last updated 3 November 2026
The short version
- Your channels, locations, logs, keys and audio stay on your Mac. The app does not send them to us.
- To show live data, the app asks third-party services for the area you are looking at. Those services see your internet address.
- We only hold the details you give us for the waiting list and, when accounts launch, what we need to run your licence.
- We do not sell your data and we do not use advertising trackers.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Sweep 125 is operated by Cadence Limited, a company registered in the Isle of Man (company number 137008C), with its registered office at 19 Peel Road, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 4LR.
The data controller is Cadence Limited (company number 137008C), 19 Peel Road, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 4LR. We follow the GDPR and LED Implementing Regulations 2018 and, where they apply to you, the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. Contact us about privacy at hello@sweep125.com. You can complain to the Isle of Man Information Commissioner (inforights.im).
2. The website
- Waiting list. If you join, we collect your email address and, if you give them, your first name, which scanner you have, where you listen, what you mostly listen to, and whether you want Community updates. We use this to tell you about the launch and about Community in your area. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. If you offer to be a beta tester we also keep that choice and which type of Mac you have, so we can send you the right test version. We use it only to contact you about testing Sweep 125.
- Hosting. The website is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, it processes your IP address and basic request details (such as browser type and the page requested) to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Browser storage. If you choose light or dark mode, your choice is saved in your own browser. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
3. The Sweep 125 app
Stays on your Mac
The following are stored on your Mac and are not sent to us: your scanner channels and settings, backups, My Locations, activity logs, your saved location, account keys for optional services (stored encrypted), and any audio or speech-to-text output. Speech-to-text runs on your Mac. The app does not record audio.
Sent to live data providers
When you use the map and Live Data Feeds, your Mac contacts third-party services directly to fetch data for the area you are viewing, for example adsb.lol (aircraft), aviationweather.gov (airport weather), Planespotters.net (aircraft photos), AISStream.io (ships), Flightradar24 (flight details, if you add a key), and OpenStreetMap (map tiles). These requests include the map area or airport you are looking at and, as with any internet request, your IP address. If you add your own key for a service, that key is sent to that service. Each provider handles this data under its own privacy policy. You can switch individual services off in Connections.
Your location
If you press "Use my location", macOS asks your permission and the app uses your position on your Mac to find nearby places and to request live data for that area. You can instead type a town or airport, or click the map.
Internet streams
If you add an internet audio stream, your Mac connects directly to the site that provides it, which will see your IP address.
4. Accounts, licences and payments
When you start a trial or subscribe, we will hold your email address, your licence and trial status, the date your subscription renews, and an identifier for each Mac you use (up to three), so we can check your licence and limit it to your devices. We will sign you in with a one-time code sent to your email. Our legal basis is performing our contract with you.
Payments are handled by our payment provider, which acts as merchant of record. It collects your payment and billing details and shares with us only what we need to manage your subscription (such as your email, country, plan and payment status). We never see your full card details.
5. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run Sweep 125, such as our website host, our database host, our email provider and our payment provider, under contracts that require them to protect it. We may also disclose data if the law requires it. We do not sell personal data.
6. International transfers
Some of our providers store or process data outside the Isle of Man, UK or EU, for example in the United States. Where this happens we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses to protect your data.
7. How long we keep data
- Waiting list details: until launch plus 12 months, or until you ask us to remove you.
- Account and licence details: while your account is active and for up to 2 years after, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Payment and tax records: as long as the law requires, typically 6 years.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your personal data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or give it to you in a portable format. You can withdraw consent at any time. To do any of this, email hello@sweep125.com. You can also complain to the Isle of Man Information Commissioner (inforights.im), or to the data protection authority where you live, such as the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
9. Children
Sweep 125 is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as Sweep 125 changes. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we will tell you about important changes in the app or by email.
